- Thanks, for the information on Typhus. But I do think it is incredible
- that we didn't have it in the Civil War. We can be thankful for that I
- guess. I know it was a problem in the prison camps in WWII. War is such
- a nasty thing in so many ways. You stated in your Marfan syndrome
- exchange with another person that you are a doctor. What is your specialty?
- Also I noticed you spelled it "Marphan". Are there two spellings? I used
- to be a doctor's assistant so I am familar with medical terms and found
- the discussion quite interesting. I am glad they didn't water it down to
- lay terms.
-
- Lincoln was such a great man in many ways and I find it interesting that
- some of our great contributors came from families with some genetic problems.
- For instance, Beethoven's siblings had all kinds of problems, including TB,
- blindness, etc.
-
- I have more than a passing interest since I have four children (two with
- serious genetic problems and two that have some extraordinary abilities.
- (In my opinion, anyway). So genetics is an interesting subject for me and
- I actually worked here in the past in the Medical Genetics Department.
-
- I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this topic.
