  28. It sounds like this might vary from state to state as well. But it also
  29. brings up an interesting point, the mother can lie for whatever reason,
  30. and chances are pretty small that she will be called on it. And as has
  31. been pointed out, she may also be mistaken or unsure. But this issue
  32. is one many have a great emotional investment in, which is why I put
  33. lying as the first option. I have seen revenge at work, as well as
  34. extreme possessivness (personal experience here), and neither is a basis
  35. for open honest discussion.
