- In fact, I don't believe that's the case. That may be true at most of
- the smaller North American schools, but the last time this subject
- came up it turned out that lots of larger schools do pay student
- government officials. Stanford does pay its student government
- officials salaries -- members of the Council of Presidents, until the
- COP was at least temporarily abolished by popular vote for this year,
- received $4000 for the year. Which may seem like a lot, but given that
- Stanford tuition/room&board/etc. is $22000/year and I make about that
- much doing my 12-14 hour/week job, it's not _that_ unreasonable. Of
- course, it was unreasonable enough to get the COP voted out...Oh well.
