- Oh dear, the flame wars are starting... Anyway, if the more
- discerning among you can manage to ignore them, I'd be grateful if you
- could lend me an ear for a moment. (Bi-relevance: none -- did you
- expect any from me?)
-
- I've been having a few emotional problems recently, which I won't go
- into here (not while you're all busy flaming each other anyway!).
- Suffice it to say that part of the cause is some events from 1989
- which I haven't really got out of my system. Last night I had an
- arresting dream (if you can call it a dream -- it was very short and
- in sound only). In it I heard part of a song which was very evocative
- of that period, "Twist in My Sobriety" by Tanita Tikaram, and then
- a strangulated voice, which I recognized as my own, shouted: "Hey!
- Can I have a good cry and get over it all, please?"
-
- I immediately woke up -- it's rarely that your subconscious tells you
- what it wants in *that* direct a fashion :-) . The trouble is, I've
- got rather out of practice at crying. I can manage a few tears, but I
- can't remember the last time I sat down and had a really good sob. So
- does anyone have any ideas about how to get the tears flowing? I was
- wondering if I should get hold of the song that was playing in the
- dream, for instance. Do people find it easier to cry alone, or do
- they prefer a shoulder to cry on?
-
- I'm quite happy for people to post replies, but email me if you prefer
- -- it's a rather unusual subject and maybe you'd rather not risk
- getting caught in the flame wars elsewhere. (But it makes a change
- from talking about sex, doesn't it?)
