- I just want to take a moment to complain briefly here. For
- the past four years I have lived in Amherst, Massachusetts,
- one of the leading centers of liberalism in this country!
- (California, forgive me...) Right next door was good old
- Northampton where I spent a great deal of my time. Now,
- here I am, stuck in Cincinnati, Ohio, where absolutely
- nothing happens. No activism. Very little liberalism.
- Raving Republicans everywhere I turn. I haven't seen a
- pink triangle since I moved here in July, or any variations
- on the such.
-
- I miss the Pioneer Valley so much. Yet I
- am stuck here getting a degree until at least June of 1994.
- I mean, the arts out here are quite nice (I'm attending
- the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music) but the political
- atmosphere is deplorable. (Remember the Mapplethorpe
- lawsuit? Right here in good old Cincinnati. As well as
- Marge Schott, the Bengals and Victoria C., etc.) It's
- not fair. What have I done to deserve to live in such an
- atmosphere? :-) OK, maybe that's a little heavy handed,
- but you get my point. It's such a rough change from
- Amherst/Northampton. Anybody else out there have any
- Cincinnati experiences (or this area), or any other
- experiences with having to live in a very conservative
- area for a great deal of time? Just like to hear how
- other people deal with it. Thanks!
