  17. SeaFirst downtown, especially the two main branches that handle foreign
  18. exchange, seems to give a fair rate for *all* non-USA currencies, including
  19. Canadian dollars.  You will still lose something if you convert US to CAN
  20. dollars, then convert back.  Love the way they try to get you coming and
  21. going.

  23. The best rate is not obtainable in a bank's lobby, in any case.  Your PLUS
  24. Cirrus, or Exchange card is usable in Canada, especially the PLUS.  The rate
  25. for getting money out of a bank machine (ATM) will be extremely close to
  26. that quoted in the Wall Street Journal's foreign-exchange column for that
  27. day; for a sufficiently large transaction, the service fee for using an
  28. out-of-country machine will be less than 1% of the total.

  30. In the case of PLUS or Cirrus, this is true all over the world; the PLUS
  31. card has been useful in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, and the UK.
