  39. I will discuss work I am doing with Peter Bensch and David Hutches 
  40. on programs for classifying lexical items in unprocessed (before 
  41. the programs see it) English text.  You can think of the categories
  42. as being grammatical categories like nouns, verbs, etc., but the
  43. classifications are actually much finer than that.  I will contrast
  44. two different approaches, with differing computational and linguistics
  45. strengths.
