- Just back from Paris: the installation was well worth the travel!
-
- It consisted of an Iris Elan R4000, a Fake Space Labs' BOOM2C, a 486 with
- two Beachtron boards that provided localized sound.
- The art piece, called Menagerie, was a black field in which opened various
- kinds of "door", appearing and enlarging from the void. Out of those doors
- (cirles and arches) came off animals, 4-legged, 2-legged, flock of birds;
- they were very simple, intentionally, just few lines each, very elegant,
- with a WONDERFUL life-like way of moving. Their movements were accompained
- by a very good eerie soundtrack, but not always very "localized".
-
- Michael Giraud and Susam Amkraut did the visual side, while Mark Trayle
- made the music. The supervisor of the project was Scott Fisher.
- A very good work!
- BTW Michael and Susan, from Unreal Pictures, are the same folks who did
- Eurythmy (sp?) some time ago.
-
- On the technical side it was the first time I tried a BOOM, and 1000 lines
- really make some difference! There were moments in which I really felt
- inside, like I never felt before.
-
- In the same time, at the Centre Pompidou, there was a small room with a
- laserdisc with all the works Scott Fisher did from 1980 at MIT until now.
- Seeing it all together really gives an idea of the HUGE amount of work he
- did.
