  14. I remember vividly where I was.
  15. I was jogging in the green foothills behind Stanford before classes.  
  16. Sally Ride had jogged there too until she joined NASA.
  17. I remember several news breaks about the progress of the launch-
  18. they had delayed it a few times that day because of the
  19. weather, and I was cynical about that.  So then I heard the launch
  20. and the crash in about two minutes and got very emotional
  21. almost to the point of tears.  The last public event that affected
  22. me this way was John Lennon's murder- the Beattles would never
  23. get together again.  A niece was born that day.  Our family calls
  24. her the "shuttle baby".
