- My apologies. I mistakenly thought that when you typed

- you meant "ben claims that it's not just a belief in god, it's 'TRUE'",
- i.e. that you had changed the subject to belief in God, and were no
- longer discussing secular arguments for religiously based moral beliefs
- (usenet threads have been known to change subjects from time to time,
- after all). Perhaps the change you made to the subject line influenced
- my reading of your intentions.
- Now that I understand what you were saying . . . I think I agree
- with you, after a fashion -- not about God, of course, but that
- religiously based moral claims don't carry weight outside the
- religious tradition from which they come. How you do construct a
- debate about moral issues when there's no common basis for morality I
- haven't figured out, however.
