  18. I'd say you're at least half full of s**t.  The science behind ozone
  19. depletion is pretty solid.  Note that there has been some garbage
  20. science going around claiming that the ozone hole was detected in the
  21. 1950s, or that volcanoes put more chlorine into the stratosphere than
  22. CFCs, etc.  All these claims are bullshit, and have been repeatedly
  23. debunked elsewhere on the net by knowledgable atmospheric scientists.
  24. Chlorine from CFCs has been strongly implicated in the formation
  25. of the ozone hole; the reactive intermediates have been observed
  26. in situ, providing a "smoking gun".

  28. Global warming is somewhat less well established at this time (there's
  29. no equivalent of the ozone hole as of yet).  The basic physics is well
  30. understood -- increased radiative forcing will occur -- but the response
  31. of the global climate to this forcing is difficult to predict.
