  13. I'm currently being treated with prednisone for Crohn's disease.  My
  14. dosage started off at 40mg every other day beginning in August.  My
  15. doctor has tapered me down to 5mg every other day.  I have no more
  16. symptoms, yet he refuses to take me off.  He told me the
  17. dosage was too low to cause any damage. I've heard many bad 
  18. things about long term usage of prednisone.  So, my questions are:
  19. 1) Should I find a new doctor?
  20. 2) How long is it safe to be on this dosage?
  21. 3) Can I taper myself off?  (I know you are not supposed to quit 
  22.     cold turkey.)

  24. I'm getting married in 3 months and would LOVE to lose the weight
  25. I gained on the prednisone as well as clear up my skin.  Most of
  26. the rotten side effects have disappeared after I was moved to the
  27. 5 mg every other day.  I just find it very hard to believe I should
  28. stay on a medication as bad as prednisone, if I am not having any
  29. problems.
