- You might try Merritt Ruhlen's _A Guide to the Languages of the
- World_. The copy of it that I have was published by the Stanford
- Language Universals Project in the '70s, but I think it has been
- released by a "real" publisher more recently. He gives the inventory
- of vowel _phonemes_, which may or may not help you.
