  13. Paleoclimate Research With Freshwater Mussels.

  15. My name is Keith Olive from Yakima, Washington 902 S.44th

  18. My 8th grade class is doing a major research project using freshwater
  19. mussels (Margaritifera falcata).  We are comparing the growth rates
  20. of modern specimens to prehistoric specimens so we can reproduce 
  21. climate conditions of long ago.  We have access to specimens that are
  22. 7,000 years old.  We would like to obtain specimens from other regions
  23. around the world to compare to our region.  They are found holarctically
  24. so they should be in a variety of places.  If you know of an area with 
  25. these mussels please contact us, our E MAil address is"wilsonms".  If
  26. you would like more info about the project send us a note.  We'd love
  27. to work with other areas in our study of paleoclimate and climatic
  28. change.

  31. from the world.  If you have shells from non-endangered species, we'd
