- OK, here we go again.

- (1) The widely quoted speech of Chief Seattle is more or less bogus. It
- was cooked up by a Hollywood screenwriter several decades ago.

- (2) There are several attributions which are based on more scholarly
- attributions, and readers are directed to the Seattle, WA, public library
- for this information.

- (3) The doctored Hollywood version makes great reading, but it isn't true.

- (4) The original makes more sense, but is still a rough translation.
