- Back in the early 1970s, David Bergamini wrote a history of the coverup
- of Hirohito's involvement in World War II policy called _Japan's
- Imperial Conspiracy_. When it came out, it was roundly denounced.
- Now, much of what Bergamini found is recognized as being probably
- true. Bergamini interviewed members of the wartime government who
- told him that tremendous wealth belonging to Hirohito was transferred
- to what are now the large Japanese corporations to protect that wealth
- from confiscation by the U.S. Bergamini was also told that Hirohito
- had made it clear that after the war, Japan would put its energies
- into economic warfare against the U.S., and that it might take a
- hundred years to accomplish his goals.
