- CALL FOR PAPERS
-
- SYMPOSIUM ON AUTOMATED MODELING FOR DESIGN
-
- THE 1993 ASME WAM
- NOVEMBER 28 - DECEMBER 3, 1993
- NEW ORLEANS
-
- The Modeling and Identification Technical Panel of the Dynamic Systems
- and Control Division of ASME is sponsoring a symposium to address the
- current issues in developing automated modeling environments for
- design. The symposium will be held at the 1993 ASME Winter Annual
- Meeting.
-
- Topics: The topics to be addressed may include: general modeling,
- analysis and simulation methodologies (both the synthesis and the
- selection problem) for creating models for What If? design studies.
- Methods for computing relevant performance metrics and integrating
- these metrics with design specifications (e.g., with QFD
- technologies). Techniques for model validation/verification; model
- reduction and augmentation strategies; and definitions of model
- quality.
-
- Objectives: The objectives of the symposium include: providing a forum
- for researchers from the physical system modeling, automated modeling
- and qualitative reasoning, design, design theory and methodology, and
- CAE (simulation) communities to discuss their ideas and to compare
- their goals, strategies, vocabulary etc. To encourage participants-to
- identify important research issues and engineering hurdles. To
- introduce new researcher to the field.
-
- If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Prof. Jeff
- Stein at the address or phone numbers given below.
-
- Papers accepted for publication are also eligible for publication in
- the Journal of Dynamic Systems Measurement and Control. Those wishing
- to select this option should indicate so in a cover letter submitted
- with their manuscript. Because the review process for the Journal
- takes longer than the review for the symposium, manuscripts will be
- sent on to the Journal office at the conclusion of the symposium
- review process along with the reviews obtained from the symposium
- review.
-
- Abstract (<300 Words) due March 8, 1993.
- Notification of Abstract Acceptability March 15, 1993.
- Manuscripts (4 copies) due May 1, 1993.
- Notification of Manuscript Acceptability June 15, 1993.
- Final manuscript due on Mats July 15, 1993.
