- I want to use RS-485 interfaces for my latest home automation design. (I
- think I do, at least.) Currently I'm in need of interface chips. I hope
- to keep things simple, and wouldn't mind spending a couple extra dollars
- to save assembly/design time. If there's a simple +5V only RS-485
- transceiver chip available, I'd appreciate a pointer to it.

- I'm planning on running around 4800 baud. Can I run power, send and
- receive on pairs of twisted wire without much interference (to the network
- and to appliances). Also, how many transceivers can I put on a line? I
- was once told that the limit is 31.

- We're planning to close on a house in April, so I'm past the "just
- thinking" stage. I'm getting a bit anxious. Any help will be greatly
- appreciated!
