- Yup, you're right. Many people can't hear the difference, or it doesn't
- matter much to them. HOWEVER....if you are into the ultimate in sound, and
- really listen, you can hear the difference. Many people have hobbies. I
- collect cars, which is expensive & takes up lots of room. I've got friends
- whose hobbies are their audio systems, which is more expensive and takes
- up less room.
-
- Maybe stamp collecting is the way to go; high cost/volume ratio.
-
- My point is this: You can look at all the frequency response graphs you
- want, and it isn't going to tell you how a system sounds. Going by a purely
- engineering outlook isn't going to give you a real idea about quality, because
- there is stuff going on that we don't even begin to understand. Just speaker
- wire, as someone mentioned, can be quite expensive. I think the current
- state-of-the-art is multi-sized wires in a non-twisted bundle, low O2 copper,
- etc. etc. etc. OK, you might not be able to hear much, if any difference.
- But someone can.
