- Recently I posted a request for information regarding the availability of a
- device or circuit which would replace the mechanical tuner in an old TV and
- tune only channel 3 or 4.
-
- I received two replies by E-MAIL both of which suggested that I set the
- existing tuner to the desired channel and then solder the tuner contacts.
- This obviously converts the exiting tuner to a "single channel tuner" and
- it also eliminates forever the notorious problems of dirty contacts in old
- mechanical tuners.
-
- Since today most people connect their TVs to a VCR which has a tuner and a
- single channel output, "repairing" an old TY in this fashion seems entirely
- resonable, practical and inexpensive.
-
- My thanks to all who responded.
