- ChemText is VERY expensive (around $500 with academic discount). We were
- using it but finally gave up for some of the following reasons:
- 1) it is difficult to learn
- 2) the company wants you to buy a"maintance contract" before they will
- answer questions
- 3) the word processor is not as good as a standalone word processor
- 4) the structure drawing part is no better than standalone structure drawing
- programs
- 5) don't even think about running it on anything less than a FAST 286 or a
- 386 PC
- 6) it wants ALL of the low 640K for itself so forget about any network
- drivers and just about any other TSR for that matter
-
- We switched to WordPerfect for Windows and ChemWindow. Another
- good combination is Microsoft Word for Windows and ChemWindow (all of which
- does require a 386 or better computer).
