- A good modification of this experiment was a favorite of mine in college...

- Take any carbonated beverage, my personal favorite for this trick is ginger
- ale, and pour a nice layer of pepper on top. Make it fairly thick and uniform,
- then add, in a large lump in the center, salt. Keep piling on the salt until
- it becomes heavy enough to drop through the pepper and into your pop. Instant
- Mt. St. Helens.....Make sure you do this on a tray or plate of some kind
- because this thing can really go on you if you have a full glass of beverage.
- And for all of you non-chemists out there, do not try this at home. We are
- professionals.
