- This is another question that should be in the FAQ, if it isn't.
-
- I have heard of several methods. MOst are probably relatively painless
- to the fish and I guess it depends on your personal preference.
-
- 1) Put fish in cup of water and put in freezer.
- 2) Put fish in glass of seltzer water and then in freezer.
- 3) Chop off fish's head with knife (only painless if you don't miss)
- 4) Put fish down garbage disposal (personally I don't agree with
- this one. I imagine a fish would get hacked quite a few times
- before dying this way, but it has been suggested in the past).
-
-
- Also, consider that if you have not treated your fish to this pont
- that you might still save him with agressive antifungal therapy.
- I don't, of course, know how bad he/she is, but just because some
- external damage looks bad doesn't mean that it is that bad if you
- treat him. OOTH, if the fish is just wallowing about in obvious
- pain, then you are probably right in euthanizing it. I only bring
- this up because I have a yellow tang that lost an eye ("one-eyed Jack")
- that I rescued from the hangman's noose from a local pet store, and
- he is one of my favorites!
-
- Good luck, whatever your do.
