- A few years ago, before I had a table saw, I built a huge (60"H X 66"W X 30"D)
- computer desk/cabinet/bookshelf entirely out of 3/4" birch ply. I brought the
- computer-designed plans for the plywood pieces to the local lumber yard and
- they cut the more difficult pieces to my specs. Then I had them rip some 8'
- 1-by birch into 1/4" thick strips which I used to edge-band all the plywood.
- The desk came out beautiful (stained a dark color and waxed) and is still in
- perfect shape after 7 years of daily use. I still have some of the original
- 1/4" edge-banding stock in my wood pile. It's the best stuff for birch ply,
- in my opinion.
