  20. A few years ago, before I had a table saw, I built a huge (60"H X 66"W X 30"D)
  21. computer desk/cabinet/bookshelf entirely out of 3/4" birch ply.  I brought the
  22. computer-designed plans for the plywood pieces to the local lumber yard and
  23. they cut the more difficult pieces to my specs.  Then I had them rip some 8'
  24. 1-by birch into 1/4" thick strips which I used to edge-band all the plywood.
  25. The desk came out beautiful (stained a dark color and waxed) and is still in
  26. perfect shape after 7 years of daily use.  I still have some of the original
  27. 1/4" edge-banding stock in my wood pile.  It's the best stuff for birch ply,
  28. in my opinion.
