- precipitations. After many postponments, i went on Sun 1.17, it was
- pouring in the Bay area thru Sacto and the Caltrans phone (800
- 427ROAD) said chains required. I was preparing myself to mentally
- suffer thru the "chains-on syndrome" but surprise! when i got
- past Placerville, no chains required. I wouldn't blame Caltrans.
- They did a great job given the conditions and that many drivers
- don't have the foggiest idea about traction, kinetic energy etc...
- As for the media, always take the news with a grain of _wheat_, salt
- is bad for you.
