- I agree. One should not buy shells from locals, nor should people remove
- them from the water if there is anything alive in them. Which was the
- case with the shell bought from the native. Only shells which are
- unoccupied should be collected. The same goes for coral. Not only is
- it degrading to the dive site to pick coral, but it usually goes bad.
- Most coral collected by divers is thrown away, so why bother.
