- My mail bounced...
-
-
-
- Hi Ben,
-
- I agree that moving anything that heavy in a directly vertical
- movement without the use of a ramp is rather difficult. I tried it
- once with my RZ350 and managed to crush one of the volunteer's
- fingers. Ouch. Never again.
-
- I'm attempting to rebuild what I can without removing the block
- from the frame. So far I've:
-
- - removed all side panels, tank, rear plastic
- - rear taillight assembly.
- - air cleaner and carb assembly (float bowls, jet assembly, etc).
- Just a note if you want to try and do this. Remove the
- radiator and fan before you try this or you won't have
- any room to get them out.
-
- I'm currently in the process of removing the exhaust pipes
- (front collector, rear pipes). My front collector must be
- replaced because it is dented and limiting the exhaust flow.
- I would have had the pipes off last week, but I needed a
- universal joint on a ratchet to reach the left hand side
- exhaust pipe joint off of the number 3 cylinder. This is the
- worst part I'm sure. By the way, the front collector costs
- about $280 US. I think I'll try to have them fixed first, but
- the job must be up to my standards (near perfect).
-
- - Once I move it into the house, I'll remove the front forks
- and replace the front fork seals. I'll also clean out
- the anti-dive on the left side.
-
- - I'm replacing the seat cover. The old one craked in the -15
- degree celcius temperature.
-
- - I'm considering repainting the body parts, but I would have to
- take it to a real good professional painter. I hate crappy
- paint jobs on bikes.
-
- - I'm going to do a compression test soon to see how the rings and
- valves are. By the way, once the carb assembly came out, I saw
- that checking the valve clearance on the number 1 and 3 cylinders
- was going to be a piece of cake (as compared to the last time!).
-
- - replace the hoses. The bike is 9 years old. It's about time.
-
- - dismantle/clean/repair brake system. The front brakes need
- a going over, but the back brake could use a new rotor. I'm
- going to look for one second hand since new it costs 284$(US). Ouch.
-
-
- I also need to paint the frame in a couple of spots
- where the paint chipped off and some rust has started.
- My work is never done!
