  12. I saw an old movie where Robin Hood takes on Little John.  The fight scene 
  13. takes place on a log which is a bridge over a stream.  Each contestant mounts 
  14. the bridge at opposite sides of the stream, and so must balance on the log as 
  15. well as fight.  The staffs were held the way a weightlifter would attempt a 
  16. deadlift on a barbell.  i.e. hands centered on staff, spread, one grip up, one
  17. grip down.  The moves consisted of pushing on the opponents staff raised chest
  18. high, and "hooking" with the staff to strike with either end of the staff in a 
  19. circular type path.  There was no jabbing, poking, or hand position moving.
