- i recall reading several years ago that the small press
- predated science fiction fanzines by about fifty years,
- and that the first small press zines (in the sense most
- of us are using the term) were apazines.

- Apparently there were little hand-operated printing presses
- marketed in the 1880s; people bought them, began printing
- personal thoughts and news, and started collating them for
- exchange.
