  23. a call from a teenage boy that someone had broken into the
  24. house: the boy had locked himself upstairs.  When police arrived,
  25. they encounterd Ms. Patrick holding a large knife.  When the 
  26. police ordered her to drop the weapon, she responded by charging.
  27. The police sprayed her with Capstun (I think that's OC) but
  28. she kept coming so they had to shoot her several times.

  30. Editorial: in another few seconds, the OC would probably
  31. have had some effect, but the cops would have been severely
  32. injured and maybe even dead by that time.  If you want to
  33. use OC, use it like the pro's do... as an alternative 
  34. to lethal force if it's use is both possible and 
  35. effective.
