  16.  The story as I heard it (hearsay alert!) was that the Mexican
  17. government frowns on its citizens posessing firearms in the same
  18. calibers used by the Mexican military, which uses both .45 ACP and 9mm
  19. Parabellum.  Thus the .38 Super is popular in Mexico.

  21.  Since many of the early combat pistol matches were in the southwest
  22. and in Mexico, many US shooters stuck with the Super so they could do
  23. all their competition with the same gun and ammo.

  25.  Ballistically there's not much difference between the .38 Super and 9mm
  26. Parabellum, particularly if you consider the many variations of 9mmP.
  27. Some people don't like the Super's rebated case, but that doesn't seem
  28. to be a real problem.
