- Beretta received a contract from the Brazillian government to
- manufacture for the military model 92 pistols. Beretta set up a plant
- in Brazil, not unlike the operation in the US. When the contract ran
- out, beretta sold the plant, inventory, plans, drawings, etc to
- Taurus. Taurus continued to manufacture the 92's for civilian use and
- has since begun to modify the design that diverges from the Beretta.
