  24. as a conversion in a 45.  On the other hand, ...

  30. Yup yup.  But not exactly for your 45.  The Colt Gov't Model & Commanders
  31. in 9mm or 38 Super can be converted for 41AE with a new barrel & mag (or
  32. you can fiddle with an existing mag, but don't expect to use it for the
  33. original calibre again; feed lips are funny).  The 9mm, 38 Super, and 41AE
  34. all have the same base:  they use the same extractor and ejector, and hence
  35. the same slide.  Look carefully from the rear at one of these slides and 
  36. compare to a 45:  you'll see that the cuts for the ejector are different,
  37. and the slides are *not* interchangable.

  39. 41AE conversion kits are sold by Action Arms, the importer of IMI products.
  40. There also exists a conversion kit for the Browning HiPower, which I've 
  41. had done.  It's just a drop in for the barrel;  I used a 9mm magazine
  42. instead of buying one from AA, and it required work to make it feed 
  43. properly.  Since you can't convert your 45 to 41AE, you might consider
  44. the HIPower.
