  13. I just ordered a Bushmaster XM15-E2 from Quality Parts with a fluted
  14. barrel for $790 (OUCH!).  From their catalog, they claimed rigidity
  15. is increased by 20 to 25%, among other things such as better cooling
  16. and weight reduction.

  18. Does this claim of increase in barrel rigidity over a non-fluted heavy
  19. barrel sound valid to you?  They say that fluted barrels started out
  20. as heavy barrels and then they shave the metal away.
