- The toxin involved is Homobatrachotoxin - Batrachotoxins are also found in
- the so-called Poison Dart Frogs. Quantities of toxin in the Hooded Pitohui
- are much less than in the frogs, though.
- Two other members of the pitohui family possess this chemical defence -
- Variable Pitohui and Rusty Pitohui. The Hooded has the largest amount of toxin.
