- To replace or not to replace depends on one important thing! What will
- happen when the belt breaks. Some engines suffer no damage, and just coast
- to a stop. With others, there is no clearance between the valves and the pistons
- when the belt breaks and this will result in MAJOR engine damage. I'm not
- sure about the Eclipse engine. You probably should check this with a
- dis-interested mechanic ( not one who is trying to sell you a belt job) and
- who knows your car well.
