  27. I experienced a similar decrease in MPG when I installed Bosch platinum plugs
  28. in my '89 Civic DX. I also experienced a significant drop in power!  If I hadn't 
  29. thrown the old plugs out I'd have re-installed them.  I have been told that 
  30. the ignition timing needs to be reset with platinum plugs but I haven't had 
  31. it checked yet.  Hope this helps!!
