  14. I received many replies to my original question; thanks to all who replied.
  15. Summary of the replies:    Y E S , they help !!!
  16.   Using snow tires on the non-drivable wheels helps: For front wheel drive
  17. it gives the rear wheels a better grasp, hence reducing the chance of a
  18. spin (especially when breaking while going down hill). For rear wheel
  19. drive you'de get a better steering (though from my experience, steering
  20. is not so bad because the heavy engine sits in the front thus the front
  21. wheels are holding tight on snow).
