  16. steam/wash... is all water... all can cause rust...however...
  17. there is one very good reason NOT to steam...

  19. the nature of steam cleaning vs liquid water cleaning is simple...
  20. steam consists of superheated water VAPOR... this vapor is made up of
  21. very small parts (water clumps together rather nicely in liquid form)
  22. those very small parts of water are capable of penetrating deep into
  23. the recesses of your engine block, heads, pan, accessories...etc...
  24. from here, the water vapor condenses and can become trapped in the
  25. engine... if you have ever completely stripped a car to the barest of
  26. bones, you may have learned that water will generally not cause rust
  27. unless it has a place to sit... and that is just what it does in your
  28. engine.... steam cleaning, especially frequent steam cleaning may
  29. cause severe internal rusting in the engine.... something which liquid
  30. water cleaning will not usually do... and if it does... you needed a
  31. hell of a lot more than just an engine wash....

  33. BTW... the first thing most used car places do... is steam clean... it
  34. does work VERY well... but it has it's risks... now, you are warned....

  37. is accurate... being a chemist, i know these things... 8)
