  26. funny ... i was just thinking about this issue.

  28. the earliest aero production cars i can think of are some pre-wwii citroens
  29. and the chrysler airflow of similar vintage.  probably the first production
  30. car to actually be subjected to a wind tunnel would have been the saab 92,
  31. which appeared before 1950.  saab continued this trend, as a loner, for
  32. quite some time; the Audi was to my mind the car that signaled the conversion
  33. of this loner attitude on the part of Saab and Citroen into an actual trend.
  34. Ford i would give credit for being the first US manufacturer to go aero,
  35. but not with the taurus -- it was the aero T-bird that started it.

  37. in any event, ford certainly doesn't deserve major credit for anything
  38. except jumping on the bandwagon earlier than most others.
