  14.     Well, I have always washed the engines of the cars I have owned
  15. at least twice a year.  Have NEVER had a problem.  I get one of those
  16. GUNK sprays they sell at the auto-parts store.

  18.     Here is what I do (most is in the instructions for the spray):
  19.     
  20.     1) warm the engine up for at least 20 mins.
  21.     2) shut it off, seal air intake...
  22.     3) spray the stuff..
  23.     4) 5 mins. later rinse it all off real well..
  24.     5) open up the intake again, and run the engine for another 20 mins.
  25.     
  26.     I have never had any premature rust, if anything I have had many 
  27. mechanics/friends say that my engine looks like new. It also makes the car
  28. easier/less messy to work on...

  30.     Weird, but I thought this was a 'normal' thing to do to cars.  After
  31. reading some of this thread I realize that this is not true...
