- More than just fines -- you could lose the car. It happened here in
- Oregon a few years ago. The owner of a new BMW removed his cat and the
- state found out. They required him not to operate the car until the
- cat had been replaced by the *factory*. Said factory is in Bavaria,
- and the cost of all this exceeded the value of the car.
