  18. I agree.  IT IS a lot of fun to be able to squeak 'em in 3rd gear.
  19. Also, a V8 is simpler than a 16v, 4cyl, turbocharged engine.  That's
  20. one reason why I would like to own a Mustang, the new Camaro, or the
  21. new Firebird.  The 'Vette is out of my price range.  However,
  22. practically speaking, those cars are a pain around here, except on dry
  23. summer days.

  25. Now: let me describe to you another feeling: Being able to USE all
  26. your power.  I live in New England.  Most of the year, you will find
  27. snow, ice, sand, or rain in the road.  Now picture yourself waiting at
  28. a stop sign, trying to make a left turn into a busy avenue, where
  29. traffic flows ~50mph.  Maybe you have never been in that situation on
  30. your area.  If you have, you will be able to relate to this.  If the
  31. road is dry, and your clutch/accelerator control is good, you will
  32. probably do 0-50 in less than 6 seconds with a FWD or RWD car.  But
  33. the road is wet, or if there is sand on the road, forget it.  You'll
  34. REALLY be able to squeak 'em in EVERY gear (and you will probably wait
  35. there forever until there is a long break in traffic both ways).

  37. Next time you go out test-driving, try an AWD Eclipse, Laser, Talon,
  38. Corolla, or Audi.  The Audi and the Toyota are in the upper $20's/lower
  39. $30's.  The Diamond Star trio, on the upper teens.

  41. Now... if Ford, Chevy, or Chrysler would offer their Camaros,
  42. Firebirds, Mustangs, Daytonas, etc. with 160+ hp and AWD for under
  43. $25k, they could count on me to buy one of their products.  Right now,
  44. the Diamond Stars are my only choice.
