- The reason (actually, more of a side-effect than a reason) is that when
- a GM car's overly-easy-to-break-and-steal steering column gets cracked
- by a thief, the dealer/mechanic just throws in a new column, and gives
- the owner a new ignition key... thus saving labor of changing the
- tumblers in the lock.
