- This is just my experience, but if the "shop" you took it to was
- Precision Tune, don't bother checking your carb-it's probably something
- much simpler. I took a car in for a friend after doing some carb work
- on it-total rebuild down to the float needle. When I put it back
- togrther and tried to tune it, I didn't notice that one of the plug
- wires was burned from hitting the manifold. Silly me... Anyway, I
- didn't have the time to screw with it so I took it into PT to get one of
- their 30 dollar tune ups-I figured it was just some misadjustment. I
- let the guy look at it and he said "oh litle lady, why you need to have
- this carb rebuilt" and quoted me $400. I swiftly told him that I had
- just finished rebuilding it and besides I could go over to the parts
- store and buy a new one for $120. He looked at me and told me to take
- the car and get out. When I got home I noticed the plug wire.
- My friend also took his car over to PT and they told him he neded a new
- carb for about $400, and I looked at it and saw a vacuum hose cracked.
- Fixed for 35 cents. Fucking rip off artists.
