  13. Hello fellow techno-junkies!,

  15. I have a NAD 4225 tuner. I've had it for about 8 months and have been
  16. mostly happy with it. I've had a annoying "fuzz" over the top of several
  17. weaker FM stations for some time now.

  19. I put this down to just bad luck and poor signal, since move the indoor
  20. dipole antenna around didn't help and using the external UHF ( Yes that
  21. IS supposed to be a "U" ) made things FAR worse. ( Dont worry - Ive had
  22. THAT discussion )

  24. Then about a week ago I switched on the cassette deck, which is DIRECTLY
  25. below it ( when I've got the $3000 the carpenter wants to constuct my
  26. "idea" hi-fi/video unit ( with NO glass doors ) - they will have plenty
  27. of room between them ), I got a very distinct interfrence !?

  29. I thought "but isn't the tuner grounded" - answer - NO! It only had a 2-pin
  30. plug. However, on the back of the tuner there was a _ground_ connector
  31. beside the AM antenna connector. So I hastily grabbed a bit of wire and
  32. connected this to the ground connector on the back of the amplifier.

  34. It worked IMMEDIATELY - No interference - no annoying "fuzz", even on the
  35. weakest FM stations!

  37. I poured thru the NAD manual looking for some reference on this, to no
  38. evale. It only talked about the _ground_ signal in respect to poor AM
  39. reception ( who listens to AM any more ? ).

  41. Has anybody else had a similar experience with FM tuners or is this a NAD
  42. feature? If it is they should at least tell us about it in the manual!
