-
- Nope. It's spelled Thiel. And the speaker is now called the model CS2 2.
- I guess we are supposed to pronounce this "two two" or "two space two."
- They originally called it the model 2.2. But apparently Bose, Inc. has a
- trademark on decimal points, at least when used for speaker names.
-
- According to Stereophile, it is not clear that such a trademark could hold up
- in court, but Bose has a lot more lawyers than Thiel. I would like to tell
- you what I really think of Bose, but they would sue me. Background info:
- Bose sued Consumer Reports magazine for publishing a less-than-worshipful
- evaluation of a Bose product. Fortunately for audio and the first amendment,
- they lost.
-
- The 2 2 is indeed a very nice speaker. I heard them demonstrated, along with
- the newer model 4.6 (4 6?) at Innovative Audio in Brooklyn last summer. It
- was not at all obvious to me that the bigger Thiel sounded significantly
- better. Although the IA staff claimed that the demo room was too small
- for either of the speakers to really show their stuff.
