  11. Hello, everybody!

  13.     I am currently in the process of building a quality audio/video
  14. system. I plan on getting the audio right first, and then perhaps adding
  15. surround capability later.

  17.     My main concern is that I not get a surround system that will
  18. degrade the overall sound quality of the movie that I am listening to.
  19. I have a friend who only rarely uses his surround setup because it is
  20. noticeably less euphonic than a simple stereo setup.
  21.  
  22.     I have no interest in getting a processor, subwoofer, etc.,
  23. that will sound real impressive to my friends but distracts from the
  24. presentation of the movie. I am therefore wondering whether or not it
  25. is worthwhile to spend an extra $2k on a plain Dolby setup. I would
  26. probably be thrilled with a THX setup, but just don't have the means
  27. to plunk down $5000+ on a such a system. Unless THX component prices
  28. start to come down a little, I can't see it in my immediate future.

  30.     I would be interested in hearing the reactions of those who
  31. have decided to add surround capability to their current system. Are
  32. you satisifed with it? Do you use it for all you movie viewing? What
  33. would you do differently if you had the opportunity to start over?
