- Not quite true. There was something on this on TV last week, and my
- understanding is that if you can get someone knowledgeable in the
- field (eg., a used car dealer) to sign a statement attesting to the
- "fair market value" of the vehicle you will only have to pay taxes on
- that amount. Still more than the $1, but less than red-book.
