- ONTARIO HIGHWAY TRAVEL CONDITIONS AT 3:30 PM January 21, 1993.

- SOUTH-WESTERN ONTARIO: INCLUDING WINDSOR, CHATHAM, LONDON, STRATFORD,
- WOODSTOCK, KITCHENER-WATERLOO, AND LAKE HURON AREAS.
- All highways in South-Western Ontario are clear, however there are
- some lightly snow-covered sections on highways in the Harriston and
- Wingham areas due to drifting snow, and some slushy sections on highways
- around Goderich.

- SOUTHERN GEORGIAN BAY-HURONIA REGION: INCLUDING BARRIE, ORILLIA, LAKE
- SIMCOE, COLLINGWOOD, OWEN SOUND AND MIDLAND AREAS.
- All main highways, including the 400, are clear, although visibility
- varies from good to fair due to fog in the east end of the region,
- particularly in low-lying areas.

- SOUTH-CENTRAL ONTARIO: INCLUDING HAMILTON, NIAGARA, TORONTO, OSHAWA,
- GUELPH, ORANGEVILLE, LINDSAY, PETERBOROUGH AND PORT HOPE AREAS.
- All main highways in South-Central Ontario are clear.

- EASTERN ONTARIO: INCLUDING TRENTON, BELLEVILLE, KINGSTON CORNWALL,
- OTTAWA AND ARNPRIOR AREAS.
- All highways in Eastern Ontario areas are clear.

- CENTRAL ONTARIO: INCLUDING PARRY SOUND, MUSKOKA, HUNTSVILLE,
- HALIBURTON, BANCROFT AND PEMBROKE AREAS.
- All main highways in the Haliburton-Bancroft region are clear, while
- secondary highways are bare with slushy and snow-packed sections. In the
- Huntsville, Muskoka and Parry Sound regions, main highways are clear,
- while secondaries are bare with some centrebare and snowpacked sections.

- 400 - Clear, although visibility may be reduced to fair at times
- north of Highway 9 to Coldwater due to fog.
- 401 - EAST OF TORONTO - Clear.
- 401 - WEST OF TORONTO - Clear.
- 402 - Clear.
- 403 - Clear.
- 404 - Clear.
- 417 - Clear.
- 11 - TORONTO TO NORTH BAY - Clear, although visibility may be reduced
- to fair at times in the Barrie-Orillia region due to fog.
- 17 - HAWKESBURY TO PETAWAWA - Clear.
- 69 - Clear.

- NORTHERN ONTARIO:

- NORTH BAY-NIPISSING REGIONS: All main highways are clear.
- NEW LISKEARD-MATHESON-TIMMINS Highway 11 is bare with centre-bare snow-
- packed sections. Highway 101 between Matheson and Timmins is clear with
- icy sections in the Matheson area, while around Foleyet it is clear.
- Highway 144 is bare with some wet sections around Timmins.

- COCHRANE-HEARST-KAPUSKASING REGIONS: Highway 11 is clear except for
- some icy sections in the Kapuskasing area. Highways 655 and 67 are
- clear.

- SUDBURY-ALGOMA-NICKEL BELT REGIONS: All main highways are clear with
- some wet sections around Walford and Eliot Lake due to rain in those
- areas.

- SAULT STE MARIE-WAWA-MARATHON REGIONS: Highway 17 east is clear,
- however north to Marathon it is icy with bare sections. CLOSURE NOTICE:
- Highway 17 north from Batchawana to Marathon is closed due to icy
- conditions. All secondary highways in the area are also closed. This
- includes 631 and 101 east of Wawa.

- NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO:

- NIPIGON-THUNDER BAY-ATIKOKAN REGIONS: Light wet flurries changing to
- rain and freezing rain are falling east of Thunder Bay. In the Thunder
- Bay area, light wet flurries changing to light freezing rain is falling;
- west of Thunder Bay light to moderate wet flurries are falling. Highway
- 11/17 is bare and wet with lightly snow- covered, slushy, centre-bare
- and icy sections. Highway 11 from Nipigon north is bare and wet to
- lightly snow-covered, slushy and icy. Highway 17 east to Terrace Bay is
- snow-packed, snow-covered, slushy and icy and visibility is reduced to
- fair due to precipitation. Highway 61 to the border is bare with slushy
- sections; continuing to Duluth it is bare with icy sections and driving
- is not advised. Highway 17 west to Ignace is centre-bare to lightly
- snow-covered with slushy and icy sections. Highway 11 west to Ignace is
- centre-bare to lightly snow-covered with slushy and icy sections.
- CLOSURE NOTICE: Highway 17 east between Terrace Bay and Marathon is
- closed due to icy road conditions.

- FORT FRANCES-RAINY RIVER-ATIKOKAN-REGIONS: Light flurries are falling
- around Kenora, and light to moderate snow is falling around Sioux
- Lookout. Light rain is falling around Red Lake. Highway 17 west is bare
- to lightly snow-covered and slushy in places. Highway 17 east is bare to
- wet with icy sections. Highway 105 is bare to centre-bare.

- SECONDARY HIGHWAYS IN NORTHERN AND NORTH-WESTERN ONTARIO.
- Secondary highways are mainly centrebare to snowpacked with icy
- sections.
